“WHERE THERE IS HAIR, THERE IS JOY” (OR THE HAIRCUT IN THE POMERANIAN)

It’s been a while since we last posted on the blog, to be exact since last December when we told you about our getaway in La Gomera island. Click here to read that post if you missed it:

But we have decided to write in the blog only about those topics that require a more detailed and in-depth explanation, leaving more trivial topics and Colette’s daily life for our more dynamic posts on our Instagram account @pompomdog.

Without wanting to go into great explanations, with the main title of this publication, which originally refers to an expression from Spanish proverbs, from Pompomdog we wanted to extrapolate it and apply it to the subject of the Pomeranian’s coat and haircut. (more…)

DOGGIE GETAWAY IN LA GOMERA ISLAND

The post about the Colette’s holidays is usually published in the summer, but this year, for obvious reasons, we had to postpone it to the end of November.

In these annual getaways we always look for new experiences, which enrich and stimulate her and which, at the same time, strengthen our dog-human bond. (more…)

“POMERALIA EXPRESS” OR HOW TO KNOW WHETHER YOUR DOG IS A “POMERANIAN IMITATION” OR NOT

In the pedigree dog world, and very especially in the case of Pomeranians, because it is a very desirable and expensive breed, there is a lot of trickery by people selling dogs that are not Pomeranian, or crossbreedings in which only one of the two parents is Pomeranian, thus taking advantage of the naïveté and money of their buyers.

Since the beginning of Pompomdog’s blog, one of the questions you have ask us the most through our Facebook and our Instagram has been, without a doubt, is if the dog you want to buy or that has just arrived at your home is a purebred Pomeranian or a “Pomeranian toy”, sending us photos of them so that we can confirm it. “ONCE UPON A POM”: HAPPY WALK!

As you will remember, a few months ago we inaugurated a new section in the blog in which we talked to you in a brief and “no spoiler” way about the dog books we read to give you our opinion. If you missed the first review, in which we wrote about “The language of dogs – The signs of calm” by Turid Rugaas, you can still read it by clicking here.

Today we continue with the book “Happy walk!” (¡Feliz Paseo! in Spanish) by Mónica Valdepeñas, better known in social networks as “Felicidad Canina”. (more…)

ECO-KIT TO WALK WITH YOUR DOG

Since this year on September 21th, 2019, “Peace Day” was dedicated to “Climate Action for Peace”. Two days later, the “Climate Action Summit” of the UN took place. and, above all, in the wake of the “World Climate Strike” on 27-S, the news about the disastrous effects that climate change will have on our lives and our planet does not stop happening.

We would not want this fight to be a fad, and I am sure that if Colette could make her own decisions as a consumer, she would want to do her bit. That is why, in this new publication of PomPomDog we show you what are the products that are part of what we have called “eco-kit”: sustainable products for the environment to walk with your dog. (more…)

“ONCE UPON A POM”

Today we inaugurate the new section ‘Once upon a Pom’, a little corner in PomPomDog where we will talk about the dog books we read, sharing with you, (no spoilers of course ! ?) what we like the most, and what we like the least.

We start with ‘On talking terms with dogs: calming signals‘; a book that we were very interested in reading, written by the famous Norwegian dog trainer Turid Rugaas, which runs for its 15th edition. (more…)

SEPARATION ANXIETY IN POMERANIAN DOGS (II) – TOYS TO FIGHT AGAINST IT

In the previous publication we told you why separation anxiety happens, especially in small dogs like Pomeranians, and at the same time we gave you some small tips to avoid your dogs suffering from it. If you missed this post, you can read it again by clicking here. In this post we will talk about three types of toys that help Colette to cope with separation anxiety, all having in common that they include treats inside. (more…)

SEPARATION ANXIETY IN POMERANIAN DOGS (I) – TIPS

Because of its small size, because of our way of treating them/pampering them, Pomeranians have a tendency to suffer separation anxiety, which causes them a state of anguish, stress and depression, moments before their human leaves and while they remain alone at home.

If your dog suffers it, these reactions will not be unknown for you, but just in case we indicate that this anxiety is manifested in behavioral problems such as: (more…)
