The 36th National Dog Show and the 33rd International Dog Show were held this year in February the 27th and 28th in Valladolid, Spain. Generally, in theses exhibitions the best specimens of each breed are judged depending on a number of criteria (morphology-beauty, obedience, etc.), which are established in the dogs societies and federations’ regulations. If you are curious and want to know what criteria are these precisely, you can click here on this link of the Spanish Royal Dog Society.
And if you ever have a show catalogue in your hands, you will find our beloved Pomeranian within the ‘Group 5 – Spitz Dogs and Primitive Dogs’ – Section 4: European Spitz – 1. Germany – e) Zwergspiz Dwarf/Pomeranian.
If you know someone in the shows world, he/she will probably tell you that it is a very special world, where rivalry doses are combined with lot of sacrifice by breeder and handlers – the person presenting the dog in the ring –, not only for the effort involved in training them, but also by the economic effort of attending these shows throughout the country and abroad, all of this without winning cash prices, but obtaining a great recognition for the dogs of his/her kennel.
For us, dogs’ shows are one more opportunity of being with the lovers of this beautiful breed which are Pomeranians, along with meetings, such as that one we organized in September, 2015 and we wrote a post about that you can read again by clicking here.
In the show we could first meet Koritsa (Kori), which comes from Russia, Toffee’s sister and Pomeranians family’s new members, see how Michi has totally recovered from its broken leg, together with its sister Corín, meet Kenay and its mum, meet Ur, and meet new Poms. We want to take advantage of this post to thank Sergio, from “My Puppies Golden Dream” for his advice and for let Colette playing-socialize with his champions Agüita Clara and Bossanova.
And you, do you usually attend or take part in dogs’ shows?
We’d love to read your experience in the comments of this post.
